Plein Air Painters Of America
A fellowship of professional artists dedicated to the historic tradition of painting directly from life. Through this approach of firsthand observation, PAPA Signature Members strive to more fully explore and respond to the timeless beauty that surrounds us all. PAPA promotes a heightened visual appreciation of the world by sharing with the public its combined knowledge and experience through workshops and exhibitions of the highest caliber.
Membership
Thirty Signature Members. Includes painters from all over the nation with a large California contingent. Membership is by invitation, with selections typically made from the pool of Guest Artists invited to show with the group. Founded by Denise Burns in 1986.
Activities
PAPA sponsors the Annual Fall Workshop and Seminar and periodic satellite workshops that take place at locations across the country.
Shows
The Annual Exhibition and Sale takes place at Caesar’s Tahoe in June.
