Peninsula Plein Air Painters
An informal painting group that meets every Tuesday at venues from San Francisco to upper Santa Clara County.
Membership
There are 80 members on the mailing list, working in oil, watercolor and pastel. They welcome beginning painters as well as professional artists. Founded in 1977 by Bob Gantenbein, Gladys Fies, Marge Arnold and Barbara Johnson, among many others.
Activities
Activities are limited to Tuesday morning paintouts with sharing of paintings and other information at lunch.
Shows
Two or three shows a year at San Mateo City Hall and the County Government Center in Redwood City. Participation is usually non-juried and optional.
Publication or Newsletter
Bi-monthly schedule sent to members.. Paintout venues change every two weeks. To be included, you must attend two sessions and then pay $10.

The Outsiders
Painting together informally since the early 1980’s when they discovered they shared love for the paintings of the Society of Six. Several painted with Six member Louis Siegriest and his son Lundy. Their emphasis on vivid color, loose brushwork and local scenery which has been touched by man set them apart from traditional landscape groups.
Membership
Includes eight members: Nikki Basch- Davis, Warren Dreher, Pam Glover, Ray Jackson, Judy Molyneux, Bill Rushton, Randall Sexton, Jerrold Turner. Membership by invitation only. Founded in 1998.
Activities
Fundraisers and paintouts.
Shows
Triton Museum, the Mendocino Art Center, Hearst Gallery, St. Mary’s College, and the William Lester Gallery.

None; “The Outsiders,” a color catalogue, is available for $15.

Nevada County Plein Air Painters
Founded in 2002 by Marilyn Rose and Jane Welles to provide an opportunity for artists to paint outdoors in a supportive and congenial group, in order to improve their own skills as well as to contribute to the esthetics of the community by painting their impressions of the local landscape.
Membership
There are currently 35 members on the phone list, with about 15 active core members who consistently participate in the weekly paintouts. Artists of all levels are welcome.
Activities
Weekly paintouts are set by Marilyn and Jane, and members may call either of them on Sunday night or Monday, or may open Marilyn’s website and go to the Nevada County Plein Air Painters page, to find out that week’s day, time and location. Members are encouraged to call each other and set up other dates to paint together as well.

Konocti Plein Air Painters
Konocti Plein Air Painters is a plein air painting group that meets bi-monthly in the Lake County California area near Clear Lake.
Membership
There are about 30 artists in our group . Artists of all experience levels and media are welcome. Members take turns hosting the paint-out location.
Shows
Shows are scheduled throughout the year including our fall small images show and a yearly show to benefit the Rodman Land Trust. Public building exhibitions are also scheduled.
